Alex Lagelée Kean

Born and raised in Germany, Alex’s work and study has taken her around the globe. After graduating from New York University with a Master of Arts in Political Science, she helped start a global grassroots landmine clearance campaign (Adopt-A-Minefield), in association with the United Nations in New York. This soon led to Alex moving to London, where she worked with Paul McCartney and Heather Mills to establish the UK arm of the campaign.

After following her love to Sydney, Alex has been contributing her valuable skills and expertise to our own not-for-profit sector. Prior to joining APS she held the role of Head of Fundraising for the Inspire Foundation, the organisation behind Australia’s online youth mental health service

Alex is passionate about helping APS clients to identify their philanthropic goals and then develop a strategy to help them achieve those goals. Having worked within not-for-profit organisations, she understands the challenges that clients face in choosing the organisations they want to support, and ensuring that their grants are making an impact.

Outside of work, Alex enjoys spending time with her husband and two gorgeous daughters, which includes getting out into the Australian bush as often as they can. When she reads, it’s in German, to keep up with her mother tongue, and Alex still occasionally pines for proper (German) bread and Christmas markets.
