Dan Phillips

Dan Phillips is Executive Director at Macquarie Group. Dan joined Macquarie in January 1989 and founded Macquarie’s Technology Principal Investment Business in 1996.The Technology Principal Investment team works with entrepreneurs to help build and grow their businesses.

Dan has more than 20 years experience providing venture capital to high growth companies in Australia, Asia, Europe and the US.  This includes four years working in Shanghai, where he grew the venture capital business in China.

Dan’s early career at Macquarie was in banking, where he provided lending, leasing and other structured finance solutions to Macquarie’s clients.

Dan currently serves as Director of a number of companies including Nuix Pty Limited, a global provider of online investigations solutions; RedEye Apps, an Australian cloud-based drawings and data management platform; RecordPoint Software Holdings Pty Ltd, a global provider of enterprise records management solutions; Haventec Pty Ltd, an Australian innovative and disruptive cyber security solution provider to the banking, e-commerce and government sectors; and XM Cyber Ltd, an Israeli-headquartered cybersecurity company that seeks to keep organisations’ networks safe by imitating how hackers work and then assisting to remediate any vulnerabilities.

Prior to joining Macquarie, Dan worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).  He previously served as a member of the Australian Federal Government’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Advisory Board.

Dan holds a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology, Sydney.  He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Australia (ACA).
