Frances Deegan

Frances has been working with Australian Philanthropic Services (APS) since its inception in 2012.  She has a background in Corporations Law and company secretarial services.

The world of philanthropy opened for Frances when she was appointed Company Secretary at Social Ventures Australia (SVA) in 2007.  At SVA she was introduced to venture philanthropy, social enterprises and impact investment, and saw the creation of GoodStart Early Learning, the social enterprise early learning provider.

With a BA/LLB from UNSW, Frances started her career in corporate law with CCH Australia, where she was appointed Company Law Editor.  As Editor she was responsible for maintaining their comprehensive Company Law loose-leaf service with regular updates on all new legislation, case law and other relevant guidelines.

Frances attained an LLM at the University of London during the late 1980s, which was an exciting and amazing time to live in London.  Prior to returning to Australia, she worked with a city law firm using her legal publishing skills to start a knowledge and precedent system for the firm.

Frances knows that philanthropy can operate in many different ways, and working with APS clients allows her to help them to find their way through all those possibilities.
